I'm trying to source a throttle cable for an XJ-S V12 1988, and having tried the usual parts suppliers (SNG Barrett, David Manners etc) apparently it's now discontinued part.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thx

the v12 throttle cable is a specialised item that has a special bracket in the engine bay for the kick-down microswitch , the cable also has a cam built into it at this end to operate the kick-down microswitch

these are, as you have found out NLA from Jaguar or anywhere else as far as i know , i did manage to buy a brand new one several years ago , but have not seen one since,

just to make you aware, a throttle cable from any other jaguar v12 or no , will not fit , for kick-down reasons ,

pm me if interested in a very good condition used one ,

Trouble is a lot of websites may list parts, but when you try to order them the part is no longer available or your order may even seem to process ok, but then you get an e-mail saying part no longer available, order cancelled etc. (I know this from experience!)

Thanks for the advice guys....now found that it could be freed, also have come across Speedy Cables in Swansea who will make one up from the Jag pattern if they have it, or from sending the cable through to them...

This is my first post, but I think I can point you in the right direction.

I was also looking for a cable and running into the same problems.

Take a look at: Jaguar XJS parts available, NOW 30 CARS IN STOCK | eBay or email justxjsltd@gmail.com

He's an XJS breaker in Burton Upon Trent and he said that he usually doesn't usually bother to keep the accelerator cables, but will in future after I asked for one.

Hope this helps.
